This PowerPoint reviews tener idioms. There is a prompt for a hands-on warm-up called Matamoscas, that is not included, but is easily created. I put vocabulary words up in a grid on the dry erase board, and two students go up with flyswatters. When I call a word in English, the first to slap the Spanish word gets a point. First to three wins. The winning student stays at the board and the losing student gets to call the next round's words. The students who win the most rounds get extra credit and the opportunity to play the grand champion (me). ;)
There is also a slide which says "Foldable". This is a prompt for me to begin another hands-on activity. Students each receive colored cardstock and scissors. They fold the paper hotdog style and cut sixteen flaps through one side of the paper. Students write a new vocabulary word on each flap and then it's English translation on the inside. They staple this into their interactive notebooks and use it to review. It functions as flashcards without the mess, because students can look at the word and then open the flap to see the translation. My students love to make and use their "foldys".
