Use this with your Spanish 1 class. It’s a fun song with a great lesson for your Novice-Low Learners. It is comprehensible because of the brands, famous people, cognates, and the English words that are used in the song.
Instructions for use:
The song can be found on YouTube.com or Lyricstraining.com (use Karoke version.)
1. Cloze Activity: Play the song and have students try to fill in the names and brands that are missing from the song. You may need to play the songs a few times. (Answer Key included)
2. Cognate Activity: After the cloze activity, have students identify the cognates and false-cognates in the song (Form and Answer Key included)
3. Additional idea: Have students race to find out where the Latino musicians mentioned in the song are from and what kind of music they produce. (Answers included)
