Students read Hernan Cortes' description of Tenochtitlan and complete REDUCE IT activity (directions included) based off document. Either the following day, or for homework, the students try to recreate what Tenochtitlan looked like based off of Cortes' description. Results are awesome! A map outline and DOK level 3 question accompany this activity, so that students both interpret the document visually and its more abstract meaning for history.
