These cards are meant to be printed on cardstock. I prefer to laminate my cards so that they are more durable.
I use them two ways:
1. Students turn the cards face down and play concentration (where they turn over two cards and if the number matches the 10's frame they keep the cards). This builds number sense and helps students to visualize numbers in their mind.
2. Later I use just the 10's frames with an extra '5' and have students play concentration to find the two addends that make 10 (ex. 8 and 2, 7 and 3, 5 and 5--hence the extra 5).
To make it more challenging, you can use just the number cards or the number cards and the 10's frame cards. This is a quick and easy way to differentiate.
