I love doing the scoot around the room activities and my students love it too. I teach 1st grade and we switched over to the wonderful common core standards. I started teaching place value this week and I wanted to start out by teaching tens. I have the iPad app Splash Math (AMAZING!). This app asks place value questions in so many different ways and wanted to incorporate it in a fun activity for my students.
For this activity you cut out each big box and place them around the room. You can place them on desks, walls, tables. etc. The students start at a number and have to answer the problem on their answer key, BUT they have to answer it in the correct number square. After they complete it they have to move to the next number.
