This lesson plan unit has two reading texts about Terry Fox: his life story and how he has inspired Canadians.
Part 1 includes a numbered seven-paragraph text (written at a grade 6 reading level), a vocabulary list, a Fast Facts section, and an exercise for putting facts as they appeared in the text in correct order.
Part 2 includes a seven-paragraph text (also written at a grade 6 level), vocabulary list and a writing exercise that uses the vocabulary words introduced in Parts 1 and 2.
Also included is a group activity that prompts students to discuss and record what they learned about Terry Fox.
A great way to introduce ESL students to this beloved Canadian hero.
