Every September, I honour Terry Fox in my classroom during the weeks leading up to the School Run Day. My kids are always fascinated by him and want to know as much as they can about his life, so I created this resource to help me present Terry Fox to my class in the best way possible.
In this pack you will find Terry's story, beginning with his birth, his school years, his diagnosis and the Marathon of Hope. I present this first part to my kids as a slideshow and they will be able to learn more about Terry's life. Also included are writing ideas that connect back to Terry's life story - hero writing, reading comprehension (differentiated depending on your level) and a map where kids can see and track Terry's Marathon of Hope.
Not only will this pack help you to introduce your kids to this Canadian hero, it will also expose them to the geography of Canada and serve as a lead up to School Run Day.
