- Students will create a tessellation that demonstrates their understanding of translation and rotation.
- Students will demonstrate their understanding of how to convert .jpg images to 3D models by making a 3D model of their tessellation pattern.
This project walks students through making a tessellation stencil and scanning the stencil in to convert for 3D printing. I developed this project using a post on Instructables for my STEM class. We use a Lulzbot TAZ 5 3D printer, but it should work on any 3D printer. You could also do this project without having the students 3D print their stencil.
