Tessellations (Part 2) {Geometry Activity}

Once students have had time to play with the shapes you can reveal the 8 semi-regular tessellations. Students will probably be surprised to find out that these are the only known tessellations that use two or more types of regular polygons.

It’s a good idea to say “known” because new tessellations are discovered. It’s doubtful that any with regular polygons will be discovered but with irregular polygons and curved shapes, there’s still a possibility.
