Gridded response questions on tests can sometimes be intimidating and daunting. I have found that many students struggle with gridded response questions due to not having the comfort of multiple choice questions to choose from. Using task cards for practice is a great way to break up boring worksheet practice and to get students up and moving.
This common core aligned product is a wonderful tool for teaching your students how to answer gridded response questions on local or state assessments through fun task cards. Each question will require students to write and bubble a numerical answer on their answer sheet rather than selecting an answer from several answer choices. Every strand is covered!
Included with this product is:
1. Gridded Response Directions
2. 12 Task Cards
3. Student Answer Sheets
4. Answer Key
--Pre-teach/review how to answer gridded response questions by using the Step by Step guide. I typically print these for my students to glue in their interactive notebooks for quick reference.
--To protect the cards for future use, I recommend printing the task cards on card stock and laminating them. Student answer sheets were created to be printed back and front.
--Students can work in small groups (3-4 students) to complete the task cards OR you can choose to have them complete independently.
--To get students up and moving, I often tape the cards on the wall around the room so that they get to move from problem to problem.
--The questions on these task cards require higher order thinking skills and can prove to be difficult for some. I recommend being selective with the groupings of students you choose.
