Description

In the world of high stakes testing, teachers and students are feeling more and more pressure to perform and practice test taking. Many schools require vast amounts of test prep--but do our students really have the thinking skills needed to be success in the "genre" of test taking? This resource is a collection of ways that I help my students prepare to take the tests--without really breaking from our curriculum!

We CAN weave test prep into meaningful instruction all year long! Use texts you would be reading anyway and practice tests that are appropriate for your state and grades.

So what is a “Pausing Point”?

A pausing point is a place where you want your students to stop, think, reflect, and write about what is happening. The pausing points in this resource can help you do that with test taking strategies!

I am providing you with these 15 “Pausing Point” reflections in two formats:

*Full page reproducibles that can be used for students to track their thinking, to prepare for book groups, or even for you to assess comprehension.

*“Clippable” journal prompts that can be glued into response journals

The sky is the limit with these!
