Product Description
Review almost all of the Middle School Reading Skills in one week!

This handy little resource helps you review all standards except the multimedia standard for reading. That includes:

Cite Evidence - CCR 1 / LAFS.6-8.RI.RL.1.1
Theme and Central Idea - CCR.2 / LAFS.6-8.RI.RL.1.2
Interactions - CCR.3 / LAFS.6-8.RI.RL.1.3
Vocabulary – CCR.4 / LAFS.6-8.RI.RL.2.4
Structure – CCR.5 / LAFS.6-8.RI.RL.2.5
Point of View – CCR.6 / LAFS.6-8.RI.RL.2.6
Cite Evidence CCR.8 / LAFS.6-8.RI.RL.1.1, 3.8
Interpretations – CCR.9 / LAFS.6-8.RI.RL.3.9

What's in this resource:
★ Texts that are used in the included PowerPoint for examples of the skills
★ A PowerPoint with definitions of the skills and examples from the texts
★ A mini-book for students to use to record notes from the PowerPoint
★ Practice sheets for fiction AND nonfiction
★ A video to show you (and your students) how to make the mini-book

How I use this in my classroom:

1. Students read the texts from the Powerpoint.
2. Students make the mini-book
3. Teacher shows the first 3 skills from the Powerpoint while students take notes in the mini-book.
4. Students work in groups on the practice sheets for the 3 skills they just reviewed.
5. Teacher numbers the desks. After a period of time, the teacher calls a number. The student in each group who has that number must give their group's answer. If it is correct, the group earns a point. If it is incorrect, the group loses a point. It's a friendly competition where the winners earn a reward!
6. Repeat for the rest of the skills!

Quick, Easy & Fun! Students get the essence of the standards as a final "workout" of their reading skills before the big state test!
