Assess your student’s or child’s ability to use clock numbers to find time 1 hour before and 1 hour after a given time using this quick two-problem exit slip.

Education Standards
2.MD.3.7 ~ Tell and write time from analog and digital clocks to the nearest five minutes, using a.m. and p.m.

3.MD.1.1 ~ Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.

The student/child can use clock numbers to find time 1 hour before and 1 hour after a given time.

Activity
1. Teach or show your child how to use clock numbers to find time 1 hour before and 1 hour after a given time.
e.g., The time is 10:00 a.m. What is the time 1 hour before and 1 hour after?

2. Have your student or child complete the exit slip.

3. Assess how well he or she did using the answer key (provided).
Common Error: If there are any missed questions your student or child may be confusing 1 hour before and 1 hour after.

Reteach: Have him or her correct any missed questions and use the student work space sheet to explain how they came up with the correct answer.
