Speech teachers, how many times do our students go back to class and say, "We played a game today!" even though we were really targeting an academic skill? After the 3rd time I heard a student or classroom teacher refer to speech therapy as time to "play a game," I realized that we need to empower our students to use academic vocabulary. These posters are great for review and for prepping students for standardized tests!
Before every mini lesson or activity, I refer to one of these posters, so our students know exactly what they are expected to do. We review these terms both at the beginning and at the end of the session to ensure that they really understand the meaning. I even use them with kindergarteners who now go back to class and say, "We did describing!" :)
