It is NEVER too early to start prepping for standardized tests. This worksheet takes your basic place value and increases the rigor to match those types of questions that are being asked on statewide assessments. I do this at the start of the school year with my students. This worksheet not only teaches place value as a POWER OF TEN, but also works on basic operations such as regrouping when subtracting and even order of operations as the answers are written out to show multiplication (parenthesis) must be done first. It's never too early to teach that either. This one worksheet combines a lot of different skill sets. I will usually post the answer key online for students and/or print off a hard copy in color of the answer key to keep with me, have at stations, etc.
