All of the test strategy lessons in one file!
Just in time for testing season, strategy boot camp allows you to teach targeted lessons that help break down standardized reading tests in a manageable way! These short lessons can be used to prepare for the test quickly and efficiently or they can be a great tool for reviewing.
Strategy Boot Camp is intended for students who need a higher level of guidance to be successful on standardized testing. “Boot Camp” will give them a routine procedure to use each time they approach a standardized reading passage. Each strategy lesson helps students identify common questions types along with key points necessary to understand the strategy. Throughout “boot camp” students will learn quick ways to annotate their thoughts or “show their work.” This also helps the teacher identify each student’s weaknesses with just a quick glance at their work.
Each strategy lesson has a handout sheet that includes: key points, what the questions will look like, graphic organizers or key words, steps to take to show your work and a blank question to show exactly what showing your work will look like. A blank student note sheet is included so students can take guided notes during each strategy lesson.
Boot camp includes a quick reference guide with a mnemonic device to give students easy steps to follow for each reading passage and help them remember their strategy lessons with a simply glance.
In addition, boot camp includes the three basic types of test questions to help students understand what they are up against and four ways to show their thinking when wiping out or eliminating answer choices.
Boot camp includes strategy lessons for the following question types:
Fact and Opinion
Cause and Effect
Compare and Contrast
Shows That Questions/Textual Evidence
