Test-Taking Strategies: Popping up Good Test-Taking Strategies is a wonderful resource to use in your classroom. Each year as the testing season rolls around, I always begin reviewing test-taking strategies with my students. They have used these strategies all throughout the school year, but I like to get them excited about testing and doing their very best!
How I use it:
In my classroom, I make a bulletin board display by using pages 5 and 6 of this document. I use black bulletin board paper as the background. I use the letters included in this resource on pages 7-13. You can use these letters or use a school machine to punch out the letters 'POPPING UP GOOD' and staple them to the bulletin board. I use our school poster maker to enlarge the popcorn bag (pg 5) and the popcorn kernels (pg 6). Then I laminate them and staple them to the board to look like the popcorn tub has the strategies coming out of it.
To really get the students excited about testing, I bring in popcorn on the day my bulletin board goes up, and we review each strategy together as we eat the popcorn.
If you don’t want to make a bulletin board, you can simply print out the single sheet (pg 3 or 4) and give it to your students or attach it to your classroom newsletter.
