Over the course of these 13 years of teaching, I have tried a variety of methods, spoken to NJASK scorers, and had discussions with peers over how best to prepare our students.
The unit that I have made available here is the best of the best strategies used to help students score well in language arts on the NJASK. (12 lessons)
My students score extremely well year after year, regardless of where they come in in September. I attribute this unit as one of the reasons why my students score so well.
This unit will address:
~the psychology of the test
~multiple choice questions
~both narrative and expository prompts
~how to make an impression as a writer
and a variety of their strategies and skills.
Although I do gear this toward the NJASK, the truth is that skills students will learn in this unit can apply to any standardized test they take throughout their lives.
