This test assesses students' knowledge about the early colonial period of the United States. Questions include information about the following:
- Different countries and why they came to America to colonize
- First European settlement (St. Augustine)
- Roanoke and Jamestown colonies
- Why English colonies were established
- Colonial regions
- Colonial historical figures (William Bradford, Anne Hutchinson, William Penn, John Smith, John Wise, Roger Williams)
- Democracy vs. Monarchy

The test has multiple forms of questions - multiple choice, matching, short answer.

This test correlates to the following Texas TEKS:

5.1 The student understands the causes and effects of European colonization in the United States beginning in 1565, the founding of St. Augustine

5.1A explain when, where, and why groups of people explored, colonized, and settled in the United States, including the search for religious freedom and economic gain

5.1B describe the accomplishments of significant individuals during the colonial period, including William Bradford, Anne Hutchinson, William Penn, John Smith, John Wise, and Roger Williams
