PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Overview: This is a very simple, affordable and testable experiment (that includes the lab report and powerpoint) for testing the strength of 3 different brands of facial tissue against the force of gravity. I used this lab in my 6th grade physical science classroom to teach gravity and how to set up a proper experiment.

Lab Report:
Materials per group:
3 brands of tissues- 3 sheets per partner group
1 rubber band
2 beakers
1 eye dropper
1 penny

Lab demonstrates that as a tissue is slowly weakened by water, gravity will pull the penny through and it will eventually drop. Students are testing to see which brand of tissue withstands this force the longest

3 pages. 1 page includes a question guide for the final part of the project which is to have the students write a letter to the principal describing their experiment and why the school should buy that particular brand of tissue for everyone.

Powerpoint:
Walks students step by step through the experimental process. Includes visuals and explanations of a hypothesis vs prediction

Format:
Whole group discussion
Think-Pair-Share
Individual
