Testopoly is a fun game to review for your quizzes and tests. Rules are very similar to Monopoly rules.
Here are the Rules:
.Because of the size of the board, the players will only use one dice to play this game.
.Decide what two subjects you will be reviewing in this instance of the game. Subject one places indicate that the student will be asked a question on one of the subjects chosen to be reviewed, say history, for example. And subject two places will prompt questions from another subject, such as science, or whichever other subject you need to review.
.Each player takes a turn at throwing one dice, and the number that the dice shows is the number of places he or she will move his or her player marker around the board.
.Depending on where the student lands in a certain subject, the place indicates if the student will be getting a question from past homework, a question from another student, from a previously taken quiz, or from a test.
.I normally have the students prepare five to ten questions beforehand, so that they don’t consume too much time trying to find a question to ask when the other player(s) land on a student question place.
.If the student lands on a test question place you have two options: (1) If you are reviewing for a nine week test, you may ask questions from a past test for that term, or (2) if it is just one chapter or section test that you are reviewing for, you may give them a question from the upcoming test.
.If the student answers the question correctly, and the place he landed doesn’t belong to someone else, he or she may buy the place. Otherwise he or she just passes the turn to the next student. The price of purchase is indicated on the lower left corner under the word “BUY”.
.If the student lands on a place already owned by someone else, and he or she answers the question correctly, he or she pays only the amount indicated under the word “COLLECT” to the owner of the place. But if the student doesn’t know the correct answer to the question he will pay the double of the amount indicated under “COLLECT”.
.Every time a student passes through the “START” place, he or she will collect $200 Testopoly dollars from the bank. You will have to have had designated one of the players to play also the roll of the banker. The banker’s duty is to pay these $200 Testopoly dollars to the players as they pass the “START” place. The banker cannot use the bank’s money to “purchase” places for himself nor to pay “rent” when he or she lands on a place “owned” by some other player.
.If a player lands on the place marked “DETENTION”, he or she just waits for his next turn to continue playing. He or she will be “JUST VISITING”. But if the student lands on the “GO TO DETENTION” place, he or she will be sent directly to the “DETENTION” corner, the student will not pass the “START” corner, thus, he o she will not collect the corresponding $200 Testopoly dollars. Also the player will lose one turn. He or she will have to wait until all the players get two turns before resuming playing.
.Finally, If the student lands on the “FIELD TRIP” corner, he or she gets to throw the dice again, and all the above mentioned rules apply to whichever place he lands next.
.At the end of the game, the player with the most money (including the sum of all his or her properties’ “BUY” values) wins the game.
