Texas Creatures is a cut and paste activity book for Kindergarten or 1st Grade students. It features six state creatures: the mockingbird, longhorn, free-tailed bat, monarch butterfly, armadillo, and horned lizard. On each page, students have to unscramble a sentence and glue the words back in order. When students complete all the pages, you can staple the pages together to create a book (a cover page is included).
I use this book as part of our Texas history unit in the Spring. We work on a page each day and students are encouraged to color, cut, and glue neatly and add extra details to the pictures to match the sentences (ex. draw a road under the armadillo). They share the books with their families at the end of our unit.
