These differentiated activities offer engaging options for students to demonstrate their knowledge of a state. There are four categories of activities: writing, art, math, and research. There are three choices within each category. Students can select activities based on their interests or learning style.
There are many ways to use these differentiated activities. If your class is studying state history you could assign one activity per category to ensure that your students have learned the material. If you don’t want to assign four activities you could have students pick only one or two to complete. They could also be assigned for an interest based learning contract. Another option is to post all the state activity choices by region and have your students pick one activity from each state to complete. With twelve activity options for the 50 states the combinations and ideas are endless!
Two rubrics are included. One rubric is designed to grade the activities if you assign one activity from each category. The second rubric is designed to grade the activities regardless of the number or category assigned. All support pages for each state are included.
