Chop Top and Chapo continue their adventures with the Comanche Indians of Texas. Texas TEKS included in ELA, Writing and Social Studies questions and activities.
As many of you probably know, Texas teachers are required to teach more each year, but given the same amount of time to get the job done effectively. Jennifer and I put our heads together to create a lesson that integrates Reading, Writing, and Texas History in an entertaining story - told by an all-business horse and a comical donkey - that leaves students laughing and wanting to read more.
The focus of the stories is Texas History, which many teachers have to omit from the day-to-day teaching, due to a lack of time. However, we determined that, if a teacher uses the stories in an English Language Arts class, the teacher and students will get the benefit of two areas of emphasis, because the stories cover 4th grade ELA TEKS and Texas History TEKS. We actually recommend that other teachers use them as an ELA unit.
We have included many Reading, Writing, and Texas History. All of these challenging questions are supported by 4th grade TEKS/STAAR. We have also included ELA challenge questions, vocabulary and research topics.
