This powerpoint is aligned with the free worksheet available on The State Preservation Board website, http://www.tspb.state.tx.us/plan/fieldtrips/fieldtrips.html
My product includes pictures I took at the Texas State Capitol in Austin (on a mental health day between STAAR dates. You feel me.) organized into slides for each question on the worksheet.
In a tech savvy school, share this with students to pull up on their own devices and have them work through at their own pace.
You may also choose to project this in front of the class and all work together through the questions. (You may need to adjust the brightness and contrast in order to read some of the carvings on the monuments.)
You may also choose to print each page and set up stations around the room for the students to visit and analyze. (Please ensure you print with high quality and in color in order to read clearly. These are phone pictures after all.)
The worksheet from The State Preservation board includes a map of where each monument is so you could even set up the stations outside/in a larger area in the design of the capitol grounds to have them practice following a map!
