Whether you are striving to implement the United States Common Core Standards or not, these 40 text-based response graphic organizers are going to challenge your students like never before.
Most students are confident in their ability with those skills they have been learning for years, such as connecting, visualizing, inferring, and questioning. However, there is a marked difference in what we need students to be able to do now- use the material they are reading and studying to support their thoughts. No longer is it enough to have Simon share a story about his trip to the beach. Simon needs to back up his trip to the beach and how it connects to his reading by quoting or referencing the text which sparked the idea.
There are two versions of each of the 20 fiction based organizers. I tried to make them visually very different. I also tried to make one more visually cued than the other. Some students may need a stronger scaffolding than others. You could also use both forms during the year with the same students as well as a way to test understanding after working through the first version together. So many options and I am sure you will discover more as you use them.
Included in this set:
-40 graphic organizers for fiction based stories
-3 pages of teacher suggestions and instructions
Remember, these organizers will also help support your teaching of the CCSS College & Career Readiness Anchor Standards For Reading!
Enjoy and Happy Reading-
