Speaking and Listening benchmarks are built into the games. Students must discuss and agree upon the answers before moving on the game boards.
Instruct students to bring their text to the center so they can find and justify their answers. The text dependent question cards will ask about the main idea, details, illustrations, captions, bold words, unfamiliar words, difficult parts of the text, authors purpose, text connections, characters, relationships between characters, setting, effects of the character's actions, point of view, comparing and contrasting, and more.
This is a great way to integrate science and social studies into the reading block as you may use this center with ANY literature or nonfiction text!
