TEXT DEPENDENT FILL IN THE BLANK
Learning to answer questions based on text is especially hard for young learners. This packet allows them to start with one sentence that is actually a caption for a picture. It then asks 4 simple questions:
• Who is the sentence about? (noun/subject)
• What is he/she doing? (verb/predicate)
• How is it described? (adjective)
• What is the passage mostly about? (main idea)
A fill-in-the-blank sentence is given with only the one word answer missing. Ex: Sally is ___________.
This is an early scaffolding for short answer and critical response questions. I use it in my upper elementary special education class.
Included is a week worth of sheets.
