This PowerPoint presentation is the third in a series of four that focuses on close reading and the use of text-dependent questions. This presentation was used in a professional development workshop series for teachers in grades K-5 that lasted one hour. In this session, teachers will delve into structural-level questions that highlight vocabulary, structure and author's craft. We will share examples of text-dependent questions in this phase drawn from the text, Trucks, by Donald Crews. Teachers will spend time during this session working in grade level groups to create text-dependent questions for a selection of appropriate complex texts. Optional homework is also included to provide your teachers with even more experience writing their own text-dependent questions focusing on the text's vocabulary and structure, as well as the author's craft. This session can be used along with my sessions, "Text-Dependent Questions Overview", "Text-Dependent Questions What Does the Text Say," and "Text-Dependent Questions What Does the Text Mean"!
