This resource provides two sets of warm-up or ticket out multiple choice, text-dependent questions for The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Although they are multiple choice, they still require students to make inferences and look back at the text.
My students really get intimidated by some of the complicated wording they see when presented with text-dependent analysis questions, especially on our state exams and I hate seeing them struggle with questions I know they could answer, if only the question was asked in a simpler way. So, I developed this activity for teaching my kids that they can answer these tough questions, if they just unpack the prompt first. I've included the materials and instructions for the guided mini-lesson and a practice activity for students to try it out. It has really helped boost my students' confidence and elevated the quality of their thinking about the story (which is really the most important part)
