The video begins with relating interpretation to students own lives. Students are walked through a process in which they learn deeper about a significant event in their own lives. Students are then shown how to apply these same deeper thinking strategies(analogical associations) to any event in any story. Eventually, students are set free and encouraged to use these strategies with their own reading books.
