These 20 text-based reading passages for young, beginning readers are perfect for finding evidence within the text! Use them to introduce close reading to your beginning readers in a fun and interactive way. This pack contains a mix of both fiction and nonfiction reading passages. Each passage contains short, simple sentences. Some words have been replaced with pictures to increase motivation and engagement in new and struggling readers. These rebus-style passages make reading fun!

Each passage contains three text-based evidence tasks for students to complete The first task focuses on two sight words that students will find and color. The second two tasks are comprehension based. Students keep track of their three repeated readings by coloring a star each time they read. At the end of the activity, students illustrate the passage for added comprehension and a quick assessment for the teacher.

If you like any of my seasonal Text Evidence Reading Passages packs but find that you need something for lower-level or struggling readers, this pack is perfect!
