This activity is an extension to my other text feature match up game.
After your students are familiar with text feature it is time for them to explore a little on their own. During this lesson the teacher should split the class up into groups of 4-5 and provide each group with 5 or more reference books. (Selected books must be prescreened and have specific text features that are in the hand out.) Each student will most likely need multiple books to find each and every feature that is listed on the worksheet. How the students complete the worksheet is up to you, the teacher. For my students, I had them write the book title and page number they found each feature on. Each student should also complete the "how did the feature help the reader" portion because that was covered in the previous activity and they should be familiar with the information.
