A student understanding of text features is important when reading. Author’s use text features to help a reader to pay attention to something that is important in the information they wrote. I created this Text Features Flip Book to keep your class engaged when learning or reviewing text features in the classroom.
The teacher can print out the booklet, and the student will cut and staple the book together. The student will identify the purpose of a text feature, draw an example, and explain where this type of text feature is located in a book. This booklet is an organized way to keep the student learning about different text feature.
Included in the packet is a rubric to grade the student on completion of the flip book. There is a teacher copy for easy reference when grading. I have also included a Text Feature Scavenger hunt worksheet for the student to use once they have learned about text feature. (Which can be used for a grade.)
