This versatile, original project is one that students are sure to enjoy as they learn more about text features. All text was written and created by me following some research on mustaches and the history of mustaches. :)
The booklet includes 16 different text features broken down by category (navigators, visuals, and types of text) with kid-friendly definitions and examples which are all mustache-related, which makes them appealing to the kids.
There are many different ways that you could use this in the classroom as an "answer key" is included (first 10 pages). You could print out the answer key for students to use during instruction, project the answer key pages to use during whole class instruction as you introduce text features, or have students complete this as an independent project after instruction to assess whether students are able to identify the different text features (using the pages with the "blanks" and the pages with dotted boxes to cut out and paste on the correct pages with blanks), or as a combination of the two.
A checklist/rubric is also included in case you'd like to use this project as an evaluation of students' knowledge of text features.
