Description

Text features are necessary and help with comprehension. There is also a lot of vocabulary involved in text features and this can be difficult for English language learners. I've often had my students create a text features book by cutting out examples from magazines and pasting them onto papers with the feature and definition. This digital activity is similar, but works for distance learning. The slide deck is set up so each of the 15 text features has its own slide. On each text feature slide there is a place for students to type a definition, write 1-2 sentences saying how the feature helps them, and add a photo that they've taken of the feature in an actual book or magazine. A table of contents slide is also included so students can quickly jump to each feature. Each text feature slide also includes a button that links back to the table of contents.

For more text feature practice check out my Text Features Sort. For a digital version, try Text Features Digital Sort.
