Students draw lines to match different text formats with the features that would be most useful to them. For example, which text feature would be most useful for a political candidate’s advertisement? Which feature would be most useful for a U.S. history book’s chapter about the Civil War? The printout includes 20 text formats and 17 text features. There isn’t just one “right” feature for each format, but the point is to get students thinking about how different features are appropriate for different occasions. This is a skill that will surely help them in them in the business world, and that’s just one of the reasons why I like it.
