These Non-Fiction Text Feature Posters
are designed to help your students understand the features authors use when writing informational text.
Post one poster at a time and have your students find it in a non-fiction book (social studies or science text book). Have them share with a partner. Then choose one or two students to share with the class. Keep adding a new poster until all text features have been taught. Teach one feature a day, a week, or all posters at once. Only you know what is best for your students. After teaching all text features, display all posters so students may use them as a reference. Refer to them often to make the learning stick.
This resource may be used in small groups or with the whole class.
Posters included are:
•Table of Contents
•Cross Section Cutaway
•Diagram with Labels
• Graphs and Charts
• Time Lines
