These 24 text features task cards are designed to encourage students not just to identify text features found in informational text, but to explain the purpose of the text features and think about how they help readers understand text better.
Each task card either contains a short reading passage or an example of a text feature (like a glossary or diagram), and students must be able to identify the text feature and answer a question that usually relates to the purpose of the text feature.
These task cards make a great activity for 3rd grade, 4th grade, or 5th grade students that have already been introduced to the different types of text features and need to dig a little deeper.
This also makes a great text feature review before state testing.
