This activity package is designed to help demonstrate comprehension of nonfiction texts. I have found that there are limited resources to help the young learners specifically learn to identify text features of titles, headings, and pictures (images) in nonfiction materials. This activity package has one eBook and 11 worksheets designed on a lower grade level while taking in consideration that some young learners may not have a concept of words. The eBook is further broken down and labeled with the text features that are commonly missed on their grade level. Nonfiction stories are often cluttered with a lot of text features. Although the young learners are exposed to various nonfiction books that have text features, they often do not even recognized that the author is using text features to draw their attention to the topic being discussed. I sincerely hope this helps your class have a better understanding of text features. All of these worksheets are designed to enhance your lesson on text features. If you want more worksheets, check out my activity package also called “Text Features” grades k-2nd.
