Why not have students become the teacher? Share this list of "hot areas" to consider when discussing a story. Students can discuss parts of stories, passages, or whole chapters while they text-mark directly on the page or use post-it notes to tag noteworthy ideas.
Skills have been placed on individual sheets to provide the teacher with some options when teaching text-marking strategies. This collection also appears on a single sheet for students easy reference. I have also given it in a smaller size if you choose to have students paste it in their journal.
