Those pesky text features are for some reason hard for kids! While kids can id a text feature, they will often not be able to tell how they help them when they are reading.
Text-O can help! Kids can have practice with some text features: photograph, diagram, labels (caution-labels are part of diagrams so kids can choose which they want to use during the game)!, map, caption, glossary, index, and heading. There are 6 cards for up to 6 players. Clue cards are included. Someone will read the clue and players then use the counters (2 different types included) to cover their answer. Three in any direction wins! In order to win players must tell what the text feature is and it’s function. Clue cards can be printed on cardstock, cut out, folded in half, and then laminated. They can be stored in a large freezer storage bag with counters stored in mini snack bags. You can also use your own counters.
These can be used during small group, pairs, or with an adult in a small group!
