This text organization (text structure) product includes one foldable and a slide show to teach text organization (cause and effect, problem and solution, compare and contrast, description and chronological order).
There are three different activities included in the slide show.
First, there are examples with multiple choice examples. Students use this to identify the type of organization used for the paragraph. The next slide goes into detail about that type of organization. Students will take notes on the foldable throughout this part of the slide show.
Second, students will work in groups or partners to read a short paragraph and determine the type of text organization. They will then create a visual to represent the information in the paragraph. (8 task cards are included for this portion.)
Third, students will continue to differentiate between the types of text organization by writing the different types. Students will be instructed to select any topic. They will then see how any type of text organization can be used to write about a topic. This helps students differentiate the types of text organization based on the task or purpose for writing. I have f0und this last activity really helps students see how each type is truly different.
