Text organization questions come up an awful lot on standardized tests. I prepare my students with these 5 bookmarks. Students use them to identify the text structure in their book (or a stack of books that I pile on their group’s table during a whole class activity).
♥This is part of a BIG Text Structure BUNDLE
with 9 resources for a FUN unit!♥
This bundle has made the text structure unit my favorite to teach!⇧
This free resource includes graphic organizers for chronological order & sequence, cause and effect, posing and answering a question, main idea and details, and comparison and contrast & similarities and differences.
Print, cut apart, and give each student or group their own set of the text organization bookmarks. Students place the mini bookmark between pages that show and example of the bookmark's particular type of structure. Laminate for longer life and reuse again and again! You may also want to print the page as a reference poster for your students.
Make it a game to figure out how passages are organized! Students love the challenge of finding each of the 5 types of text structure in a selection of books.
