Great readers can identify chronological/time order paragraphs.
Great readers understand that identifying the text structure will deepen their understanding of the text.
The lesson starts with a "Do Now" on font changes. Then, there are guided notes on text structure with a focus on chronological order. There is a model for the teacher to read a paragraph and to then identify why it is written in chronological order. In the guided practice, students will read an excerpt and identify why it is written in chronological order. For the exit ticket, students will read their independent reading book and identify parts that are in chronological order.
