This is a screencast video of my Text Structure Explained Interactive Powerpoint Lesson
In this screencast, I narrate the powerpoint! All you have to do is pause the video a few times and watch your students interact with the lesson! I'm so excited to know that this type of file can now be sold on Teachers Pay Teachers! Again this is the exact powerpoint lesson listed above, the only difference is that this is narrated and in video format. The orignal description of the powerpoint is below.
This is a powerpoint meant to explain WHY we need to learn about text structure. As an "older" person, I never learned this in school, so even I didn't really understand the importance of understanding text structure. Someone finally explained it to me in a way that "clicked" with me, the light bulb came on! I created this product for my own students, hoping it would be helpful to them as well.
The lesson first explains the reason text structure is important through an interactive activity kids will enjoy. Next, I used the topic of Valentine's Day to show how an author goes about choosing an appropriate text structure for the information he/she wants a reader to know, understand and remember.

**Just added 2/25/13- a new set of Text Structure Cards for Games and Practice! This will work perfectly as a follow up to this powerpoint lesson.
