Objective: Great readers will notice font changes and identify whether the font change indicates a keyword (often defined in the glossary) or the start of a new section.
The lesson starts with a "Do Now" of adding a title to a poem. There is then a mini-lesson on font changes with guided notes. There is then a modeling portion where the teacher identifies font changes- this is scripted. In partners, students will read, annotate, and identify font changes in a non-fiction article. Students will finish the class by working independently on their exit ticket which is to read a short non-fiction excerpt and then answer questions based on font change.
The formatting isn't correct in the preview- but once it's downloaded it will show the correct formatting.
