This product contains 24 text structure cards that are based around zoo animals....because who doesn’t love animals? Students are asked to read the nonfiction information on the card and determine what text structure is being used by the author. Students have to answer correctly to move forward, but even then they may risk being sent back to the “zoo study hall!” Game board and student directions are included.
I know not all teachers can fit these types of games into their day, so I included directions, recording sheets, and an answer key if you wanted to use these cards as a SCOOT activity, or even as task cards.
I loved listening to the conversations my students were having about text structure. The way they justified their answers to each other was amazing!
