I use this scavenger hunt with my students when we are first learning about text and graphic features in the beginning of the school year. We often read Scholastic News magazines and articles, along with other nonfiction magazines, articles, etc. I save magazines after we read them, then we use them for our scavenger hunt! My students identify the text and graphic features, then they cut and glue on the following pages.
Although this product doesn’t include all text and graphic features, I’ve included common features that we often find in our magazines.
I’ve included two pages that can be copied front and back, providing more space for students to glue. There is also a page with features and descriptions all on one page. I sometimes have student write the text features and cut and glue graphic features if they do not fit in the spaces provided.
I hope your students enjoy this as much as mine do!
