Are you planning to show a movie to your secondary class and looking for a great way to make it meaningful, educational and Common Core alligned?! Are your students learning about themes and other literary terms? This resource has students compare a text with a movie using literary terms!
We believe in creating a learning environment that is fun and engaging. We also believe in immersing students in numerous opportunities to practice a skill before being expected to master it. We want you to use this product in whatever way is most meaningful for you and your students. However, this is what it has looked like in our classrooms…
⭐ We teach the literary terms separately and use texts to help students understand and see them in context.
⭐ We choose a movie that relates to a text that has been taught – the movie does not necessarily have to be a version of the text, but could be something with a similar theme, time period, cultural background, lesson, tone, etc.
⭐ We do not use this activity to teach the literary terms but as a fun and engaging review lesson. Students can work at their own pace or you could pause along the way to discuss and fill in together.
